" Information Network" includes, but is not limited to, the Internet, the Intranet, transfers of data within and between wide area networks (WAN) and local area networks (LAN), E-mail, browsers, file transfers (FTP), data storage, graphics, and non-print files. The term also includes the hardware, software, cabling, and related equipment needed for the operation of such information networks.
Student Use:
Student users of information shall not:
- access, upload, download, or distribute obscene, abusive, or threatening material.
- violate any local, state, or federal statute in their use of information networks.
- vandalize, damage, or disable the property of another person or organization in their use of information networks.
- access another person's materials, information, or files without the direct permission of that person.
- abuse the privilege of information network access for unauthorized use and/or financial gain of the user.
Use of information networks by students in school is a privilege, not a right.
- Students shall lose the privilege of access to information networks if School Board policy and/or building-specific rules, regulations, and guidelines are violated.
- Student materials published via information networks shall be identified only by school name, grade, or class. Student names and/or student pictures shall not be used.
- The intentional use of information networks and the accessing of data (print or non-print) which are not authorized by the student's instructor or other appropriate staff supervisor is a violation of this policy.
