Coach Pignato named new head coach of the Polars!
Interviews were Friday, October 24 and Steve Pignato was named the head coach of North Baseball today, Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Coach Pignato has been an assistant coach at North since 2005 and is a Hill-Murray and University of St. Thomas alum.

Coach Sather steps down as head baseball coach - below is his letter:
Effective today, September 5, 2008, I am stepping down as head coach of North Baseball.
The impetus for this decision came from a conversation I had with my 7-year-old son last spring that I wouldn’t be able to coach his youth team because of numerous conflicts with the varsity baseball schedule. With two other younger sons at home, I realized quickly that these opportunities for coaching my sons will triple in the next few years and I wanted to be available for them a few times a week in the spring and summer.
Head coaching any sport obviously demands a concentrated time and energy commitment, so any need for flexibility naturally takes me out of the head baseball coaching position. I may continue coaching baseball as a part-time or volunteer assistant; that will ultimately be a decision for the new head coach.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 13 years of coaching baseball at North, and will do everything in my power to ease this transition period to ensure the continued strength of the North Baseball program.

Congratulations Matt! He's the third D1 baseball athlete in the last 12 years at North High School and the first at the U of M.
