AIR FORCE JUNIOR ROTC

The Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (AFJROTC) is a four-year program for high school students taught by retired Air Force officers and noncommissioned officers. The program provides leadership and citizenship training to cadets in high schools across the United States, its territories and other overseas locations.

Each year is divided into two categories: academics – 60% (referred to as Aerospace Science) and leadership – 40% (referred to as Leadership Education). Academic studies include history and science. Leadership studies include Air Force customs and courtesies, cadet corps activities, study habits, time management, communications skills and leadership and management studies. This course set is a building block concept with different levels of leadership courses in each class. All students will be required to wear the Air Force Uniform once a week and maintain military appearances standards and discipline.

AFJROTC is a citizen-building program, not a recruiting program. It imposes no obligation to serve in the military upon graduation.
